Middletown

Founded in 1664, Middletown Township is currently celebrating “350 years of community and history in New Jersey.” From the beach to the farmland, the township spreads across an impressive 59 square miles, offering residents two high schools, direct access to commutes via the Garden State Parkway, busses, trains, and ferries, and the convenience of dining and big-box shopping along the Route 35 corridor. Middletown is home to the world’s largest all-volunteer fire department, with 11 fire companies and over 500 members strong, and it is listed as one of the top 50 safest NJ communities with 15,000 residents or more as of 2011 (The SafeWise Report). Yet Middletown may be accurate in calling itself the “Biggest Small Town in New Jersey.” It is made up of a dozen unincorporated communities with neighborhood churches, post offices, schools, and a park practically around every corner. The recreation department offers more than 48 parks spread out over 42 square miles, in addition to seven county parks. Whether it’s in rural Lincroft, waterfront Leonardo or historic Locust, Middletown offers homeowners properties as diverse and distinct as its history and landscape. Middletown has ranked multiple times on Money Magazine’s “Top 100 Places to Live in the United States.”
